California Coast Investigative Team
California Coast Investigative Services is a proprietary enforcement division founded by the principals of California Coast Legal Group to protect the brands of our corporate clients. California Coast employs highly trained global investigators who work directly with our attorneys to implement strategies to acquire, and operate counterfeit and fraud prevention programs to monitor and manage the use of our client's intellectual property.
Through years of working internationally, our investigators have developed a unique strategy to police your brand, work directly with customs and import/export companies to identify and deter counterfeit; to identify confusingly similar uses; to conducting local market research and to coordinate efforts with domestic and international anti-piracy and fraud prevention agencies and law enforcement. Our local investigators are highly skilled law enforcement officers who specialize in working undercover to locate venues engaging in counterfeit activity and consumer fraud. By virtue of their law enforcement careers they excel at document and evidence collection to assist our attorneys in taking the appropriate legal steps to protect our clients.
Staff
California Coast Legal Group also employs highly skilled legal associates and legal staff who work directly with our clients at all levels to identify their needs and to exceed their expectations. These personnel are experienced in filing all types of intellectual property applications and managing the application process both domestically and internationally.
Our associates have experience in preparing all types of corporate agreements and licenses including but not limited to Non Disclosure and Confidentiality Agreements, Technology Transfer Agreements, Consulting Agreements, Endorsement and Talent Agreements, Joint Venture and Start-Up Agreements, Assignments, Work for Hire, and Sub Contractor licenses. Our staff is also uniquely qualified to work with our corporate clients to set up document processes for gathering information relevant to establishing their intellectual property rights, developing trademark guidelines and training processes to build and protect their brands, to identify missed opportunities, to employ marketing, packaging and development guidelines to ensure proper use of the company's intellectual property assets and to prepare documents to maintain the confidentiality of trade secret assets.
Sports and Entertainment
Additionally, we employ sports and entertainment industry veterans both domestically and internationally who specialize in the procurement of talent in both the sports and entertainment industries. From rookies to academy award winners, we have the staff that can assist our corporate clients in locating the right spokesperson to build their brand and to put endorsement deals together at all levels of the economic spectrum.
In addition to obtaining live talent, our staff has numerous contacts with celebrity estates that allow us to locate and obtain the rights to music, art, name, signature and image for historically significant athletes and celebrities.
Nina Freeland-Ringel
Nina Ringel PhotoNina Freeland-Ringel, is the Principal and Founder of California Coast Legal Group. Ms. Freeland-Ringel has a vast and impressive educational background. She received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with Management Specialization and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from West Virginia University.

Ms. Freeland-Ringel furthered her education by receiving a Master of Business Administration from West Virginia University, School of Business. And in 1997 Ms. Freeland-Ringel earned a Juris Doctor from West Virginia University, College of Law. Ms Freeland-Ringel highlighted her educational endeavors by attending the University of San Diego, School of Law, to attain an LLM degree with an Intellectual Property specialization. Ms. Freeland-Ringel is currently licensed to practice law in California, Arizona and Washington D.C.

Ms. Freeland-Ringel's educational background is superior, but her corporate legal experience speaks volumes. She began her corporate career as an Intellectual Property Associate Counsel for one of the most recognized golf companies in the world, Callaway Golf Company, located in Carlsbad, Ca. During her tenure at Callaway Golf she was primarily responsible for all facets of the company's intellectual property including trademarks, patents, copyrights and trade secret. She worked on matters both domestically as well as around the globe to establish and build well-known and recognized brands for the company's leading edge products. Ms. Freeland-Ringel also worked directly with the litigation and fraud enforcement teams to protect the company's brands and to take direct action against unauthorized users. After several successful years at Callaway Golf, Ms. Freeland-Ringel was recruited to the San Francisco Bay area to join The Sharper Image Company as a leader in Intellectual Property taking on the In House Counsel role to guide the company in building one of the most recognized private label branded lines in consumer products. While there, Ms. Freeland-Ringel had primary responsibility for managing the general corporate legal needs of the company relating to facilitation of agreements, product development, marketing and advertising, site procurement, product facilitation, licensing and counterfeit investigations as well as expanding and maintaining an extensive intellectual property portfolio. In addition to her transactional experience, Ms. Freeland-Ringel was also involved in several litigation matters ranging from a large California consumer class action lawsuit involving the company's air purifiers as well as several intellectual property infringement actions involving unauthorized use of the company's intellectual property.

Making the decision to return to San Diego area, Ms. Freeland-Ringel took on the role of Senior Corporate Counsel for The Upper Deck Company, LLC, a leading professional sports and entertainment publishing company. Ms. Freeland-Ringel assumed sole responsibility for the company's extensive global branding campaigns for both sports and entertainment products. She worked directly with all areas of the company from product development to marketing and advertising divisions to build and protect the company's brand and facilitate the licensing and development of co-branding promotions. Ms. Freeland-Ringel was directly responsibility for the licensing and talent agreements as well as the publicity rights of the talent portrayed on the products. In addition, Ms. Freeland-Ringel also managed the enforcement divisions of the company to protect the company's brand and the compliance divisions of the company to ensure the safety of the products being sold. Throughout her career, Ms. Freeland-Ringel has excelled at assisting corporate leaders in their respective industries develop, build and protect some of the most recognizable brands in the world.

Tara J. Savage
Tara Savage is the Legal Services Director at California Coast Legal Group. Ms. Savage received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from United States International University in 2001. Determined to pursue a career in the legal field, Ms. Savage took the position of Contract Coordinator for The Upper Deck Company, LLC, a leading sports and entertainment trading card, collectibles and memorabilia company.

In a very short time, Ms. Savage advanced to the role of paralegal, for The Upper Deck Company, LLC where she also assumed the role as sole paralegal for all of Upper Deck's affiliate companies including affiliates in the aviation, construction, real estate and consumer product market sectors. In this capacity, Ms. Savage had numerous responsibilities including managing and directing the global expansion of each company's respective intellectual property portfolios. In addition, Ms. Savage was directly involved in building numerous new brands for the affiliate company including a variety of film and anime brands. Ms. Savage worked directly with all levels of management, in-house and outside counsel and agencies across the globe to identify brand potential, create a global philosophy to manage the development of the brand and to protect those proprietary brands. Ms. Savage complimented her role by also assuming primary responsibility for the management and clearance of all publicity rights of the talent featured on The Upper Deck Company's proprietary branded sports and entertainment products. With more than seven years experience handling extensive intellectual property and publicity rights for a wide variety of corporate organizations, Ms. Savage is well positioned to provide the attention to detail and expertise necessary to handle your corporate portfolio.
