Nina Freeland-Ringel
Ms. Freeland-Ringel has a vast and impressive educational background. She received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with Management Specialization and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from West Virginia University.
Ms. Freeland-Ringel furthered her education by receiving a Master of Business Administration from West Virginia University, School of Business. And in 1997 Ms. Freeland-Ringel earned a Juris Doctor from West Virginia University, College of Law. Ms Freeland-Ringel highlighted her educational endeavors by attending the University of San Diego, School of Law, to attain an LLM degree with an Intellectual Property specialization. Ms. Freeland-Ringel is currently licensed to practice law in California, Arizona and Washington D.C.
Ms. Freeland-Ringel's educational background is superior, but her corporate legal experience speaks volumes. She began her corporate career as an Intellectual Property Associate Counsel for one of the most recognized golf companies in the world, Callaway Golf Company, located in Carlsbad, Ca. During her tenure at Callaway Golf she was primarily responsible for all facets of the company's intellectual property including trademarks, patents, copyrights and trade secret. She worked on matters both domestically as well as around the globe to establish and build well-known and recognized brands for the company's leading edge products. Ms. Freeland-Ringel also worked directly with the litigation and fraud enforcement teams to protect the company's brands and to take direct action against unauthorized users.
After several successful years at Callaway Golf, Ms. Freeland-Ringel was recruited to the San Francisco Bay area to join The Sharper Image Company as a leader in Intellectual Property taking on the In House Counsel role to guide the company in building one of the most recognized private label branded lines in consumer products. While there, Ms. Freeland-Ringel had primary responsibility for managing the general corporate legal needs of the company relating to facilitation of agreements, product development, marketing and advertising, site procurement, product facilitation, licensing and counterfeit investigations as well as expanding and maintaining an extensive intellectual property portfolio.
In addition to her transactional experience, Ms. Freeland-Ringel was also involved in several litigation matters ranging from a large California consumer class action lawsuit involving the company's air purifiers as well as several intellectual property infringement actions involving unauthorized use of the company's intellectual property.
Making the decision to return to San Diego area, Ms. Freeland-Ringel took on the role of Senior Corporate Counsel for The Upper Deck Company, LLC, a leading professional sports and entertainment publishing company. Ms. Freeland-Ringel assumed sole responsibility for the company's extensive global branding campaigns for both sports and entertainment products. She worked directly with all areas of the company from product development to marketing and advertising divisions to build and protect the company's brand and facilitate the licensing and development of co-branding promotions.
Ms. Freeland-Ringel was directly responsibility for the licensing and talent agreements as well as the publicity rights of the talent portrayed on the products. In addition, Ms. Freeland-Ringel also managed the enforcement divisions of the company to protect the company's brand and the compliance divisions of the company to ensure the safety of the products being sold. Throughout her career, Ms. Freeland-Ringel has excelled at assisting corporate leaders in their respective industries develop, build and protect some of the most recognizable brands in the world.
